Jack Kent Cooke Stadium Notes
Some stuff on the new stadium at the Wilson Farm in Prince George County.
Let's see...
The stadium itself will cost $160 million. The land is being sold
for 4.1 million. Cooke is paying for the stadium and devoting 4.6 million
to help the county build a community recreation center and to assist a
charitable foundation. The state will contribute 78 million to build
access roads, parking lots and other facilities around the stadium. The
county will contribute $4 million which will be the proceeds of selling
200 acres to Cooke. In addition, it will donate 100 acres adjacent to the
stadium site, valued at $2 million for the community recreation center.
According to Cooke's economic forecasts, the stadium could
generate about $5 million in annual tax revenues and bring hundreds of
jobs to the county. However, critics contend that these things will help
but wouldn't come close to solving the county's economic problems.
