LECHARLS MCDANIEL
Defensive Assistant/Administrative Assistant Coach
After one season as a pro scout with the Philadelphia Eagles, LeCharls McDaniel returns to the coaching ranks after stints with the Cardinals and Chargers. In addition to assisting the defensive staff, his other duties will be to coordinate day-to-day operations for the coaching staff and prepare scouting reports.
McDaniel spent last year as a pro scout with the Eagles after spending he previous two seasons at San Diego State (1994-95) as a special teams coach and defensive assistant. He spent the 1993 season with the Arizona Cardinals as a wide receivers coach. Prior to joining the Cardinals, McDaniel coached the defensive secondary and special teams for Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo University in 1992. He began his coaching career at Hartnell College (CA) as the secondary coach from 1984 through 1989. His first stint in the NFL came in 1991 as a special teams assistant with the San Diego Chargers.
McDaniel, a defensive back on Cal Ply-San Luis Obispos Division II national championship team in 1980, was signed by the Washington Redskins as a free agent in 1981. He spent four season in the NFL with the Redskins (1981-82) and New York Giants (1983-84). McDaniel was a member of the Redskins Super Bowl XVII championship team in 1982. Born October 15, 1958 in Ft. Bragg, NC, he attended Seaside (CA) High School. He and his wife, Sheryl, have two children, Michael and Michelle, and reside in Sterling, VA.
